Hokitika Attractions

The Hokitika Wildfoods in early March each year has become famous for it's great entertainment and swelling the local population 3 to 4 fold to some 15,000 visitors out for a good time. There are also plenty of other regular and one off events that gives visitors a chance to mix with the locals and savour the flavour of the Coast. Ross fireworks in November, Kumara and Westland Racing Club Horse Races in January and March. The town Christmas Santa Parade in December. The Wet West Festival in spring. Anzac Day memorial services on April 25th. The Agricultural and Pastoral Show in January. The Lake Kaniere Scenic Triathalon in March and the Driftwood and Sand Beach Sculpture and the Take A Seat competitions in January.
